The Biomedical Device Technology program offers an educational process that provides a comprehensive understanding of devices used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in the health sector. The program provides in-depth knowledge and skills on the basic operating principles, electronic infrastructures, installation, maintenance, repair and calibration of biomedical devices. Students are trained as well-equipped technical staff who can follow technological developments in the health sector by specializing in each stage of these processes.
The Gedik Vocational School Biomedical Device Technology program offers a curriculum that focuses on applied education. The 3+1 curriculum system is designed to enable students to combine theoretical knowledge with practice. Students receive intensive theoretical education during three semesters of the courses, and then move on to the applied education process in the 4th semester. This education allows students to adapt to the business world and develop their professional skills.
In the semester, students choose one of two options: Academic Education or Vocational Education. Students who choose the Vocational Education application practice 5 days a week during the working hours of the designated businesses. During this process, students develop their competencies in the maintenance and repair of biomedical devices while also completing theoretical courses online. Students who choose Vocational Education do not do a summer internship.
Students who choose Academic Education do not go to the workplace in the 4th semester. Instead, in addition to the courses in their curriculum, they take the Common Vocational School Course and Vocational Elective Courses and complete a summer internship. Academic Education offers students the opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge and gain a broader knowledge base in various fields.
This flexible education structure allows students to shape their education processes in line with their own career goals and helps them find a job in the healthcare sector quickly after graduation.
Vision
To create an innovative, distinctive, value-producing, perfectionist global program structure by educating promising students in the field of Biomedical Device Technology and expanding its distinguished faculty.
Mission
The Biomedical Device Technology program aims to train expert technical staff by providing sufficient knowledge and skills about the basic operating principles, electronic infrastructure, installation, maintenance, repair and calibration of devices used for diagnosis and treatment in the health sector.
Objective
In this program, which offers job opportunities in hospitals and companies that manufacture and sell medical devices, our main purpose is to teach students the basic principles of biomedical devices, how to install, maintain, repair and calibrate them, how to use measurement and test instruments for this purpose, how to use computers, how to prepare technical reports, projects and specifications, the legal regulations and accreditation criteria for medical devices, and the coordination between engineering and medical science.
Target
Training expert technical staff to work in the maintenance, repair and operation of devices and instruments used for diagnosis and treatment in the health sector is of critical importance in order to ensure the effectiveness and safety of health services. These experts ensure that biomedical devices operate correctly and efficiently, supporting patients to receive the correct diagnosis and treatment. In
addition, regular maintenance, calibration and repair of these devices contribute to the uninterrupted continuation of health services by extending the life of the devices.
Technical staff can manage the fault detection, problem solving and improvement processes by mastering the technical specifications, operating principles and safety requirements of biomedical devices. In addition, they have the ability to correctly install the devices and test the devices in accordance with current health standards when necessary.
This expertise not only ensures the correct operation of the devices, but also ensures that medical equipment operates in accordance with legal regulations and accreditation requirements. Since the safe use of devices in the health sector can directly affect the health of patients, great importance is given to the training of technical staff in this field. In this context, the Biomedical Device Technology Program aims to train experts who will ensure the sustainable and safe operation of devices that are critical for the health sector.
Purpose of the Program
The aim of the Biomedical Device Technology Program is to train specialized technical staff who can correctly install, maintain, repair and calibrate biomedical devices used in the health sector. In this program, students learn the working principles of biomedical devices, their electronic infrastructure, legal regulations and accreditation criteria. In addition, it aims to integrate engineering and medical sciences and ensure the effective use of technology in health services.
The program aims to provide students with knowledge through practical applications. In this way, graduates will have the competencies to safely manage devices used in hospitals and health institutions, provide maintenance and repair services and ensure the efficient use of medical devices.
Who Can Apply to This Program?
The biomedical field is a constantly developing and evolving sector, which makes it one of the most dynamic and critical components of the healthcare sector. Developing technology and innovative solutions increase the quality of healthcare services and enable healthcare professionals to provide more effective services. The Biomedical Device Technology program offers a unique opportunity for students who want to take part in this developing field and integrate technology into the healthcare sector.
Students who are interested in health and technical issues, who like to follow new technologies and who want to take an active role in the healthcare sector, gain a strong foundation for a career in biomedical device technology.
