About The Program

The Electrical Program began its educational activities in the 2011-2012 Academic Year. It continues to operate in both daytime (regular) and evening (second shift) programs. Our program is supported by three competent instructors who offer practical training in the fields of Electrical-Electronic Measurements, Electrical Machines, and Computer Laboratories. Additionally, we provide the opportunity for our students to engage in Vocational Training with the 3+1 educational model.

Mission

  • To provide our students with an effective education that is globally recognized.
  • To educate well-equipped graduates who possess high competitive power, meet individual-professional and ethical standards, and integrate their industry and service sector experiences with education.
  • To become a research and development university that constantly evaluates its quality at international standards and acts as a pioneer in its field.

Vision

Our vision aligns with the university’s goal of being an innovative, distinctive, value-creating, and excellence-driven global university, shaping the future with an elite faculty. As the Electrical Department, we aspire to train enterprising, innovative, differentiating, successful, and self-confident students and offer them a promising future.

Objectives

The program’s objective is to equip students with the knowledge and skills required by contemporary information technologies. Within this scope, the objectives include:

  • Being able to use electronic devices in compliance with occupational safety and perform basic measurements.
  • Designing and solving basic electrical circuits.
  • Conducting computer-aided circuit design and technical drawings.
  • Analyzing and designing basic analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Applying theoretical and practical knowledge related to the electrical network.
  • Analyzing, designing, and troubleshooting basic electrical circuits.
  • Applying theoretical and practical knowledge related to electrical machines and troubleshooting.

Furthermore, it aims to teach students to apply quality management and engage in entrepreneurship ethically and be capable of effective communication using information technologies while enhancing their professional knowledge.

Purpose

The fundamental purpose of this program is to train qualified technical staff and managerial candidates who can work in both the public and private sectors, especially in industry, with a good level of professional knowledge and the ability to apply their knowledge in practice on an international scale.

The Electrical and Energy sector, especially in developing and rapidly growing countries with an increasing population, is continuously expanding, largely due to external dependence. Reducing this dependency is crucial, and the need for well-trained mid-level electrical personnel for the production, monitoring, distribution, measurement, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment is constantly increasing. The electricity-electronics sector, with its economic and technological characteristics, significantly influences other industrial branches and holds a critical position. It is considered one of the most prominent and leading sectors globally, employing more than 10% of the total workforce in world production. About one-third of electric machines and electronic industrial products are intermediary products, which are mostly reprocessed or used by this sector. The remaining part is directly used for final consumption.

The constant development and renewal of the Turkish Electrical-Electronic Industry, its adaptability to global technologies, and its rapid embrace of new technologies indicate a promising future for the sector. In this context, it has become crucial for the electrical-electronic industry to be a pioneer in the technologies developed both for export-oriented products and for all areas of industry, leading to an increase in the demand for technical mid-level personnel in the sector.

Additionally, the demand for practical mid-level personnel is increasing day by day for the installation and operation of all kinds of electrical installations and machines, the design of electrical materials and units used in production areas, and the drawing of installation projects.

Who Can Apply to This Program?

Those who want to become electrical technicians should possess the following characteristics:

  • Above-average general abilities
  • Interest in science, especially in mathematics and physics, and success in these fields
  • Attentive, cautious, patient, and responsible individuals
  • Ability to work under difficult conditions
  • Quick decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Team players

Post-Graduation Opportunities

Graduates of this program can work in various public institutions such as Turkish Electricity Distribution Company (TEDAS), Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), State Hydraulic Works (DSI), Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKEK), General Directorate of Rural Services, and several ministries, primarily the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Moreover, they can find employment in technical service departments of private sector companies, maintenance, manufacturing, and production departments of various factories, energy distribution companies, energy production and transmission companies, renewable energy sector, research and development companies, technical service departments in buildings, alongside freelance engineers, in various positions within the industry. They may also choose to open their own private businesses related to their profession.
