General Information About the Program

Management Information Systems is an integrated system based on computer fundamentals. Management Information Systems are characterized as a method, an approach, a process, an organization, and a system. It is a system that collects raw data from internal and external environments, filters them, and processes them effectively to convert them into meaningful information, which is then presented to managers.

Istanbul Gedik University’s Management Information Systems Program is designed with an interdisciplinary approach, taking into account the global and technological competitive business environment of today. It offers comprehensive and qualified courses that combine business management and computer science.

The Management Information Systems Bachelor’s Program provides both theoretical and practical training in business management and computer science. Students are equipped with analytical, technical, managerial, communicational, and professional knowledge and skills required to become management information specialists. Graduates of the program possess qualities such as creativity, problem-solving, information utilization, entrepreneurship, and teamwork, which are sought after in every sector and profession. They can take on roles in both the public and private sectors at the national level and can also work in institutions and organizations operating at the international and global levels where information technologies are heavily used.

Objective

In today’s world, Management Information Systems, which forms the basis of the technology era globally and in our country, are increasingly being addressed comprehensively and finding many different application areas. Management Information Systems, which significantly increase efficiency in management, are a growing field that affects various scientific disciplines. The main aim of the Management Information Systems Master’s Program is to train experts who have the required knowledge in both information technology and business management to develop information systems in enterprises and to manage these systems effectively.

With technology rapidly advancing and permeating every aspect of human life, it becomes inevitable for businesses to integrate technology into their structures for their own future. Businesses that efficiently and effectively use Management Information Systems, keep up with technological advancements, and adapt them to their operations achieve faster growth and transformation. Therefore, the need for qualified individuals in this field increases rapidly for businesses and all sectors. Our main goal is to train competent, scientifically and analytically thinking, data science-skilled, adaptable to the competitive environment, innovation-capable, entrepreneurial professionals needed in the field of information technology, management technologies, and related sectors.

Who Can Apply to This Program?

Istanbul Gedik University’s Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences programs accept students through the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Accordingly:

To apply for associate degree programs, the TYT exam score must be calculated.

To apply for bachelor’s degree programs, the relevant exam score (SAY, SÖZ, EA) must be calculated.

Those placed in an associate or bachelor’s degree program within the quota during the Student Selection and Placement System (ÖSYS) preference procedures gain the right to register.

Double Major Opportunities

Istanbul Gedik University’s Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and Gedik Vocational School have certain departments where students of the Management Information Systems Department have the opportunity to participate in the Double Major Program, provided they meet the necessary requirements.

After Graduation

Istanbul Gedik University Management Information Systems graduates possess skills such as analytical thinking, strategic thinking about information technologies, business management, effective communication, efficient use of time and resources, and problem-solving. With these qualifications, graduates can take on various roles and titles, such as System Analyst and Designer, Information Systems Manager, IT Specialist and Manager, Business Analyst, Project Specialist and Manager, Marketing Specialist and Manager, Finance Specialist and Manager, Human Resources Specialist/Manager, in different fields and positions.
