As the program head of Welding Technology, I want to emphasize that you will not become a WELDER when you complete this program. You will become technicians who perform quality control of welded parts. At Istanbul Gedik University, while preparing our students for the industry, we benefit from the experiences of Gedik Welding Inc. and take into account the demand for qualified professionals in the sector. Therefore, the course curriculum is designed considering the problems that our graduates may encounter in the industry.
The Welding Technology program educates Welding Technicians in a 2-year period with a 3+1 education system. Our graduates, with our guidance, mostly work in welding quality units of companies.
In these units, Welding Technicians perform tests on the workpiece to be welded, both before and after the welding process. Before welding, they communicate with the welder, explain the prepared welding plan, and support the welder in using the correct parameters. After welding, they perform destructive and non-destructive tests and report to the engineer. So, do not be afraid to study in this field. I would like to mention that none of our graduates have been unemployed so far, and there is a high demand for this field with a significant employment gap.
Furthermore, we provide all deserving students with Non-Destructive Testing certifications from Gedik Test Center at high discount rates. Besides, you will also be eligible to obtain the internationally recognized Welding Inspector diploma issued by the IIW (International Institute of Welding) at a high discount rate.
