The basic aim of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design undergraduate program at Istanbul Gedik University, Faculty of Architecture and Design, is to train designers who consider functional, structural, and aesthetic criteria in the process of organizing spaces and their environments, prioritize user needs, and produce original, environmentally friendly, and economical solutions.
Our faculty was established in 2011, and our program started in the 2012-2013 academic year. The program has a duration of 4 years and accepts students based on the TM-1 score in the University Entrance Exam (YKS).
Our educational team consists of experienced academicians and professional designers that have proven themselves in the sector who have completed their academic studies in the fields of interior architecture and architecture. Our department with its extensive training program provides training in technological classrooms and studios. Moreover, our graduates can take part in design offices, construction sites, building material production and sales offices, renovation works, furniture and store designs. In addition, our graduates are able to attend academic programs by continuing their graduate programs in Turkey and abroad.
Our education staff consists of experienced academics who have completed their academic studies in the fields of interior architecture and architecture, as well as professionals who have proven themselves in the industry. Our department provides education in technologically equipped classrooms and workshops. The first year of the program includes basic courses related to design, communication, and drawing, while the following semesters cover technical, artistic, environmental, and human-related knowledge. Computer-aided courses allow students to present their designs using advanced 3D presentation techniques. Design studios, starting from the second year and culminating in the diploma project, provide students with design skills through various topics each semester.
Graduates of our department can work in design offices, construction sites, building materials production and sales offices, renovation works, and furniture and store designs. They also have the opportunity to continue their education in postgraduate programs in Turkey or abroad and participate in academic activities.

- Establishing the Materials of Construction and Physical Environment Control laboratory for the implementation of academic research and studios,
- Developing various teaching methods (application, technical trips, information technology applications, etc.),
- Establishing the Industrial Product Design Department in interaction with the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department,
- Developing relationships with the sector and providing support in directing and developing the education-training unit,

- Bringing together the representatives of sub-disciplines defined according to scientific criteria with academic staff,
- Developing research projects and theses by considering the needs of the sector and in cooperation with the sector,

- Organizing scientific meetings and meetings with the sector,
- Ensuring that academic staff are involved in interaction with stakeholders in the sector in order to improve the quality of applications related to the design of the built environment and structures, primarily regional tourism structures (cooperation with professional chambers, non-governmental organizations, local administrations, etc., ensuring that representatives of these stakeholders are present on the sectoral advisory board),
