The Computer Engineering Department conducted its first technical visit of the semester. Through this visit to the Bilişim Vadisi, students gained insights into the companies and the 42 Schools within this technology hub. We extend our sincere thanks to the Bilişim Vadisi team for hosting us.
At Istanbul Gedik University, the second workshop of “Strong Women in Every Field in the Second Century of the Republic” took place on October 17, 2024, with the theme “Being Present in the Digital World.” Our department chair, Dr. Feridun Cemal Özçakır, participated in the workshop as both a panelist and a speaker.
Under the Gedik Robotics Team, the “Phoenix AI” team successfully completed the Preliminary Design Report and the Online Competition Simulation in the Artificial Intelligence in Transportation category, among 2,707 teams, and qualified for the finals. In the Competition Finals, held at ANFAŞ International Fair and Congress Center in Antalya between September 5-8, 2024, they placed 15th out of 36 teams. We congratulate our students and wish them continued success.
In line with our “Campus in the Industry” educational approach, our Computer Engineering students conducted the “Innovation and Project Writing Techniques” course under the main theme of “Entrepreneurship and Innovation” together with Feridun Özçakır and Computer Engineering Research Assistants Reyhan Başbayram Öztürk and Sinem Mizanalı at the Eren Bülbül Hall in the Informatics Valley. After the class, a technical tour was organized to visit 42 Software School, the Incubation Business Center, and Saha Robotics. With our educational process innovation initiative, we continue to bring our students together with technology and the industry.
Hosted by our university and the Information Technologies Club, formed by Computer Engineering students, the Low-Code event was held on January 6-7, where the software development trends of the future were explored. Together with our participating students, we embarked on an exciting journey into the world of Citizen Developers.
What Was Learned at the Event?
✨ The concept of Citizen Developer was explained.
✨ The advantages of developing applications with Low-Code were discovered.
✨ On the first day of the event, web and mobile-compatible application designs were created using the Low-Code platform Kuika software.
✨ On the second day of the event, the created designs were coded using Low-Code.
The “Talk on Developing NoCode Business Applications” event, organized under the leadership of the Computer Engineering department, was held with the contributions of our professor Gökhan Yılmaz. NoCode is a method that allows for the development of applications/software without the need for coding skills, providing design opportunities tailored to needs through a drag-and–drop approach, in contrast to traditional software development processes.
