            Students enrolled in Turkish programs who wish to pursue a double major or minor in our department must either pass the Istanbul Gedik University English Proficiency Exam, provide documentation of passing national or international exams recognized as equivalent by the Istanbul Gedik University English Preparatory Education Regulations, or complete English preparatory education to demonstrate language proficiency.

Foreign students who wish to pursue a double major or minor in programs conducted in Turkish must meet the requirements stated in the TÖMER directive or provide proof of sufficient proficiency in Turkish.

Double Major Application Requirements

  1. Applications for a double major program can be submitted at the earliest at the beginning of the 3rd semester and at the latest by the beginning of the 5th semester of the primary program.
  2. A maximum of two double major (DM) program applications may be submitted; however, registration is allowed for only one DM program.
  3. Admission to the program is based on the allocated quota, calculated as 60% from the candidate’s cumulative GPA (CGPA) and 40% from the entrance score (ÖSYS/YKS) of the applied program in the year of admission.
  4. To be eligible for a double major, candidates must have completed all required courses in their primary program up to the term they apply, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75/4.0, and rank within the top 20% of their primary program for the respective year*.

Minor Application Requirements

  1. Applications for a minor can be submitted at the beginning of the 3rd semester and up to the beginning of the 6th semester of the primary program.
  2. To be eligible for a minor, candidates must have successfully completed all required credit courses in their undergraduate program by the semester they are applying for and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50/4.0.
  3. If the number of applicants exceeds the quota approved by the University Senate, priority is given to candidates with a higher cumulative GPA.**

*Students with a qualifying GPA but who do not rank in the top 20% may apply as alternate candidates if their score meets or exceeds the base score of the applied double major program from the respective ÖSYS/YKS admission year.

**Double Major and Minor quotas may be updated at the beginning of each academic term.
