  • As the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, we held our Advisory Board meeting, numbered 2024/2, on 10/10/2024 at 11:00 AM in a hybrid format. We extend our sincere thanks to the members of the Advisory Board for their valuable contributions to our department.

  • Our department member and MATAM Director Professor Doctor Haslet Ekşi Koçak presented an oral presentation titled “Critical Parameters in the P-T Phase Diagram of Pure Substances” with Prof. Dr. Beycan İbrahimoğlu at the “International Symposium on Materials for Energy Storage & Conversion” held at M. Nagiyev Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry in Baku on October 7-10.

  • The project titled ‘Color Trials – Development of a Non-Destructive and Portable Spectroscopic Characterization Methodology (Raman Spectroscopy and Portable XRF) for Iznik Tiles with Underglaze Decoration’ by one of our faculty members, Assoc. Prof. Gülsu Şimşek Franci, under the TÜBİTAK 1001 Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program, has been approved for institutional transfer.

  • A poster presentation titled “Modelling Unimorph Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting Using PZT-Based Materials with Different Substrate and Load Conditions by Finite Element Analysis Method” was successfully presented by our student Murat ÖZKUL, under the supervision of Prof. Ayşe BERKSOY YAVUZ, as part of the 2209 A- Project at the 22nd International Metallurgy and Materials Congress, held between September 19-21, 2024.

  • The article titled “Effect of texture on ultra-high strain behavior in eco-friendly NBT-0.25 ST ceramics using NBT template,” co-authored by one of our faculty members, Asst. Prof. Ayşe BERKSOY YAVUZ, has been published in the Journal of the American Ceramic Society (Q1). You can access the article via the link.

  • Under the scope of Scholarship Program of TUBITAK 2209-A-Research Project Support Programme for Undergraduate Students (2023/2), the project titled ‘Production of Anode Material from Hazelnut Shells for Sodium-Ion Batteries’ by our department student Yiğit TÜRK and his advisor Prof. Dr. Haslet EKŞİ KOÇAK, and the project titled ‘Production and Characterization of ZnO Nanoparticles Using Green Synthesis Method from Coffee Waste’ by our department student Ayşe ARSLAN and her advisor Assist. Prof. Ayşe BERKSOY YAVUZ, have been granted support. We congratulate our students and professors, who received their certificates of achievement from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim UĞRAŞ.

  • A book chapter titled ‘Production of Network-Structured NaNbO₃ Photocatalysts by Alginate Gelation Method for the Treatment of Textile Wastewater and Investigation of Their Structural Properties’ by our faculty member Assist. Prof. Ayşe BERKSOY YAVUZ and our student Sedanur SEMERCİ has been published in the thematic book titled ‘COMPETITION CHAINS IN THE TRANSITION TO A SMART SOCIETY’, which consists of invited studies presented at the Management Studies/Engineering Applications 2023 (YÖNAR/MU’2023) symposium.
