Message From The Dean

Since the beginning of life, the pursuit of immortality has been present in the oldest inscriptions. With the advancement of medicine and technology, the quest for immortality has been replaced by the goal of achieving a healthy and long life. Consequently, advancements in the field of health nowadays provide individuals with the opportunity for longer and healthier lives, causing the expected lifespan from birth to increase each year. The extension of lifespans leads to an increase in both the population and age-related chronic illnesses, expanding the scope of health service delivery and necessitating a higher demand for healthcare professionals in various fields. The preservation, continuation, and enhancement of individuals’ health, as well as their care when ill and subsequent rehabilitation, can be achieved through interdisciplinary efforts of healthcare professionals.

Istanbul Gedik University Faculty of Health Sciences, aiming to train professionals in the healthcare sector, has brought together the most specialized fields, namely Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, and Child Development.

Starting to admit its first students to the Child Development department between the academic years 2017-2018, our faculty continued its education by opening the departments of Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation and Occupational Health and Safety between the academic years 2018-2019.

As the students who play an effective role in shaping the future of our country, our primary goals are to cultivate you as innovative professionals with the ability to combine professional skills based on evidence-based practices, problem-solving skills, professional values, and ethical decision-making abilities. We also expect you to have the ability to work interdisciplinary.

As the Faculty of Health Sciences, while taking on the responsibility of training professional members, we also expect you, our students, to be conscious, well-equipped in terms of profession, qualified, research-oriented, ethically grounded, innovative, and proactive health professionals throughout your lives.

We welcome all students who join us and are together with us.
