About Us

The Disabled Student Unit of Gedik University was established on 01.10.2012 by the decision of the Senate of Gedik University to take necessary measures and conduct activities to facilitate the academic experience of students with disabilities studying at Gedik University. This unit operates under the direct authority of the Rectorate.

Our Goals

As the Disabled Student Unit of Gedik University, we aim to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to university facilities and services and to support their development in areas where they need assistance.

In pursuit of this goal:

We identify the needs and challenges of our students with disabilities across various domains, working to address those needs and eliminate any challenges they face.

We provide support to ensure that students with special needs can carry out academic processes in the most optimal way. By providing a supportive learning environment equipped with high-quality resources, we aim to remove barriers to academic success and development, fostering self-awareness and independence as individuals.

We develop support services for instructors to assist in meeting the physical, academic, and social support needs of our students with disabilities.

Our unit also develops, implements, and evaluates services aimed at raising awareness and enhancing the sensitivity of university staff and students regarding disabilities, as well as fostering positive attitudes towards individuals with disabilities.

The decision to report and have their disability status verified by the Disabled Student Unit rests with the student. Support from the Disabled Student Unit will only be provided to students who disclose their status and request assistance.

For an “Accessible” academic life at Istanbul Gedik University, students with special needs are required to apply to the “Disabled Student Support” unit.
