Special Awareness Event for White Cane Safety Day at the University

As part of the October 15 White Cane Safety Day, the Disabled Student Unit organized a special awareness event for university students. The event took place simultaneously at the Kartal, Halil Kaya Gedik Campuses, and the Vocational School.

During the event, participants experienced a walking simulation where their eyes were blindfolded, and they were asked to navigate using a white cane. This activity provided students with the opportunity to understand the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals and the significance of the white cane in their daily lives.

While participating in the simulation, students learned how to use the cane and developed empathy for the obstacles encountered by visually impaired people. The event drew significant interest and was regarded as an important step in raising awareness.

Officials from the Disabled Student Unit stated that such activities would continue to foster awareness and empathy for the lives of disabled individuals within the community.
