Symposium on “Rethinking Sustainability: The Role of Climate Finance and Green Entrepreneurship” Successfully Held
The symposium titled “Rethinking Sustainability: The Role of Climate Finance and Green Entrepreneurship”, organized by the Asia-Pacific Strategic Studies Application and Research Center, was successfully held with broad participation.
The event began with the national anthems of Indonesia (Indonesia Raya) and Turkey (İstiklal Marşı), followed by opening speeches from the Guest of Honor, Mr. Hardiyono KURNIAWAN, Consul for Information, Social and Cultural Affairs at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Istanbul, and Prof. Dr. Ahmet KESİK, Rector of Istanbul Gedik University.
The first session of the symposium, moderated by Dr. Nenden Octavarulia SHANTY, began with a keynote by Dr. Umar OSENÎ, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Center (OIC-AC), who shared valuable insights on “The Role of Islamic Finance in Climate Finance and Green Diplomacy.”
Following this, Ms. Fatma ÇINAR, Deputy Secretary General of the Participation Banks Association of Türkiye (TKBB), gave an informative presentation on “Islamic Banking and Sustainable Investments in Turkey.”
The second session, moderated by Lecturer Sibel KARABEL, Director of the Asia-Pacific Strategic Studies Application and Research Center, featured contributions from Prof. Dr. Burcu YAVUZ TİFTİKÇİGİL, Vice Rector of Istanbul Kültür University and Coordinator of its Sustainable Development Center. She delivered a talk titled “The Role of Bilateral Relations in Steering Regional Sustainability Efforts.”
Dr. Tamer ATABARUT, Faculty Member at Boğaziçi University, Chair of the Sustainable Campus Commission, and Board Member of UN-SDSN Turkey, addressed the topic of “The Role of Diplomacy in Guiding Regional Sustainability Initiatives.”
The symposium concluded with a closing speech by Lecturer Sibel KARABEL, followed by lively performances by Indonesian students, including the traditional “Poco-Poco” cultural dance and the “Erik Dali” folk dance, which received active participation and great interest from the audience.
