The 2nd International Hybrid Conference and Exhibition on Advances in Welding and Metal Additive Manufacturing Technologies (WAM2024), organised by our university, was successfully held on 21-22 November 2024 at Istanbul Marriott Hotel Asia.

WAM24 Conference started with the opening speeches made by Hülya Gedik, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Gedik University and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kesik, Rector of Istanbul Gedik University. The event, which was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Koçak and Vice President Prof. Dr. Savaş Dilibal, brought together scientists, engineers and students from 22 different countries who are experts in advanced welding and metal additive manufacturing technologies.

In the sessions held for two days at WAM2024, internationally competent experts shared the results of their scientific studies on advanced welding technologies and metal additive manufacturing production processes. In particular, research on Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) and laser-based metal additive manufacturing technologies and applications in the fields of aerospace, defence, biomedical and maritime were discussed comprehensively. Recent developments in areas such as robotic technologies, software development, additive manufacturing materials and innovative welding methods were discussed. Current and future challenges to increase the effectiveness of WAAM technologies were discussed. In addition, topics such as the development of functional materials, microstructure analysis, improvement of mechanical properties and advanced modelling approaches were discussed in detail by distinguished experts from industry and academia from 22 different countries.
