University-Industry Collaboration
The University-Industry Collaboration unit was established to contribute to the transformation of the scientific potential at the university and the extensive experience from the industry into economic value, facilitating sustainable cooperation between academics and industrialists by directing potential companies towards R&D and innovation activities.
The unit provides the following support:
- Realization of collaborations between academics and industrialists
- Support for idea/project development
- Guidance and consultancy support by directing industry needs to the university’s expert academics
- Project management support
- Assistance in preparing R&D projects aimed at industry
- Access support to current collaboration/project funding calls.
Intellectual Property Rights Licensing (Patent) Unit
The Intellectual Property Rights unit adopts the mission of providing individualized services in the protection of intellectual property rights of technologies/products developed within Istanbul Gedik University and as a result of established university-industry collaborations, as well as during the commercialization phases. The unit offers:
- Patent preliminary research services
- Contract law support
- Intellectual property application support
- Access to incentive and support funds for intellectual rights
- Licensing and commercialization support.
Entrepreneurship Unit
The Entrepreneurship and Incubation unit aims to strengthen the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation by supporting business ideas with commercialization potential from academics, students, and graduates, directed at bringing new products and technologies to the economy within our university and regional ecosystem. The unit provides:
- Mentoring support for modeling and development processes for aspiring entrepreneurs
- Investor support for entrepreneurs
- Guidance towards public and private sector funds
- Incubation support in collaboration with Teknopark Istanbul A.Ş.
- Individual consultancy support during the project writing and preparation phase for entrepreneurs applying for support and grant programs.
Project Support Unit (Funded and Grant Programs)
As IGUNTTO, our goal is to match national and international funds with the research topics and competencies of our academics to ensure they benefit maximally from these funds. We also continue to provide support through the project development processes, setting our roadmap together with our academics until the application stage. During the project execution process, we follow all stages and provide support as per requests.
Our university acts as a bridge between our academics and industrialists within the framework of university-industry collaborations, ensuring that research conducted at universities is transferred to industry, and that the infrastructure in industry is also transferred to the university.
Our Research Supports:
- Providing project cycle training to convey project methodology to researchers
- Informing researchers about open calls for national and international funding and grant programs suitable for research topics and assisting in the application phases
- Supporting researchers until the application deadline for project proposals they will submit to grant programs
- Evaluating project proposals and providing guidance while managing document processes
- Communicating updated information from funding institutions to researchers
- Supporting partnership finding processes
- Managing the contract process in case projects are accepted and preparing approvals.
Our Industry Supports:
- Conducting needs analysis for the industrial organization and matching it with researchers to form the basis of joint project ideas
- Directing industry to funding and grant programs based on its infrastructure and capacity, and providing support to industrialists from the project writing phase to the execution process
- Providing support in the writing and management of university-industry collaboration projects, as well as offering training related to this topic
- Organizing project markets and competitions to bring students, academics, and industrialists together in an event.
